Vale Murray Sidaway

Kia ora everyone

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Murray Sidaway over the weekend.

Murray was a dedicated, long-standing employee of CentrePort, having recently completed over 40 years of service.  He was an experienced Crane Operator, Straddle Driver & Vessel Planner, a loyal Union Delegate, as well as a trainer and mentor to many at CentrePort.

Murray’s passing was unexpected, and we are all reeling from this loss. We will feel his absence greatly.

Our thoughts are with Murray’s family at this time. They have asked that we pass on the below details to you, and to let you know that you are welcome to attend.

  • Thursday 31 October (after 1700hrs)
    • Poroporoaki (to celebrate his life/ share some yarns and stories with the family)
    • Sidaway residence: 99 Freyberg Street, Lyall Bay, Wellington, 6022
  • Friday 1 November, at 1000hrs
    • Funeral
    • Cockburn Street Chapel (corner of Cockburn Street and Onepu Road), Kilbirnie, Wellington, 6022
    • Please note that following the funeral, the burial has been reserved for family only and as such, Murray’s family have asked for this to be respected.

We all respond to news like this in different ways, so please make sure you check in on your colleagues and give people space to manage how they are feeling.
