Maritime Union picket at Port Timaru – "It's about local jobs."

Timaru waterfront workers are taking a stand for local jobs at Port Timaru this afternoon and mounting a picket on the cement ship Nan Chang Hai at around 4pm.

A local cement loading contract has been given to out of town Mainland Stevedoring and their bussed in employees.

Bluff wharfies won’t accept casualization as their Christmas present

Bluff waterfront workers began picketing at around 11am this morning against Mainland Stevedores who arrived in South Port around midday to work on the log boat "Amber Wave."

Maritime Union Bluff Branch Secretary Ray Fife says the picket will continue to be manned over the next 36 hours by local wharfies and supporters from the local Bluff community.

Bluff waterfront workers, local townspeople and supporters will be picketing at the gates of Southport in Bluff from around 12.30am (NIGHT), Wednesday 27 August.

Maritime Union Bluff Branch Secretary Ray Fife says the picket is to stop employees of stevedoring company Mainland from working the fishing trawler "Amatal Columbia."

Bluff waterfront scene of double industrial action in next 48 hours

Bluff workers, local townspeople and supporters from as far north as Port Chalmers will be picketing the log boat 'Northern Light' from the early morning on Saturday 19 July at Southport in Bluff.

The 'Northern Light' is being worked by Mainland Stevedoring and their bussed in employees.
