Conservative vs Market-linked Funds

There's only $300,000 in the Conservative Fund, but it is part of the SRF and it does serve a purpose. The conservative fund owes its existence to an option left open for members of the Caterers Union when that union merged with the Seafarers Union in the late 1990s and their retirement fund became part of the SRF. Their own scheme had a conservative approach, so it was thought prudent to allow continuation of a parallel fund in the SRF. Most opted for the market-linked approach of the SRF, but some opted to stay with the more conservative approach that prevailed in their old fund. It is interesting to compare the performances of the two different investing approaches. This graph shows the comparative performances over 1 year, 3 years and 5 years.
