Maritime Union pays respects to Rod Donald

By munz - Posted on 06 November 2005

The Maritime Union of New Zealand has paid its respects to Green Party co-leader Rod Donald, who died in the weekend.

Maritime Union of New Zealand General Secretary Trevor Hanson says he has offered the condolences of maritime workers to Mr Donald's family and his political family, the Green Party.

Mr Hanson says Rod Donald provided strong leadership in public life and shared many goals of the Maritime Union, including economic justice for working people, fair trade not free trade, and the protection of the environment for future generations.

"The Maritime Union will do our best to honour his memory by continuing the struggle for the goals and principles he advocated."
